What does fixed installation mean?

In the professional audio/video industry, the term permanent installation (or fixed installation) refers to sound systems and image or video walls that are permanently installed at the event location and are usually precisely adapted to the needs, local conditions and acoustics. This includes large sound systems in stadiums or PA systems in concert halls as well as, for example, music systems in discotheques, fitness centres and department stores or loudspeaker systems in city halls, theatres and hotels. In the best case, specialised contractors with extensive planning and acoustic calculations ensure an optimal experience for the listeners and/or spectators.

What does Tascam offer for the installation sector?

Tascam looks back on more than 50 years of experience in professional audio technology and offers a wide range of components for the permanent installation sector. These include players, recorders, rack-mount mixers and mixing desks, video streamers and recorders, as well as Dante interfaces for audio networks. Most of these are rack-mountable devices that can be firmly installed in a cabinet or rack and are more robust than similar consumer electronics products such as hi-fi systems found in the home. In addition, professional AV units have balanced connections to transmit audio signals without interference even over long cabling distances, as well as control options for remote control via a media control systems, remote control units or networked computers.

Future-proof technology

In contrast to the past, a lot has changed in the field of players and recorders. Our SS-CDR250N, for example, can deliver audio material from a wide variety of sources. In addition to CDs, these include USB sticks and SD cards as well as network storage devices, from which the unit automatically loads material as needed. Recordings on CD, CD-RW, USB stick, SD card and in FTP folders are also possible. A remote control app, available free of charge, allows control via smartphone or tablet.
