DA-6400dp
64-Track Audio Recorder for Live and Broadcast Applications
Efficient, flexible and highly reliable
Professional Multitrack Recording at Its Best
The DA-6400dp is a universal recording system capable of capturing up to 64 audio tracks from a digital audio workstation or live mixing console. It can be expanded with various interface boards, such as MADI, Dante, AES/EBU and ST 2110, to integrate seamlessly into virtually any recording environment.
This standalone audio recorder uses a dedicated real-time operating system and robust SSDs as storage media, has a redundant power supply, and offers many other professional features for unrivalled stability and exceptional audio quality.
Embedded Operating System for High Stability and Simple Standalone Operation
The DA-6400dp uses an embedded operating system to enable quick start-up and simple operation. This ensures stable recording when using high sampling rates with large amounts of data transmission.
Furthermore, files are saved approximately every 20 seconds during recording, minimising the risk of loss due to unexpected interruptions.
Recording/Playback of 64 Tracks at 48 kHz or 32 Tracks at 96 kHz
The DA-6400dp supports PCM recording/playback from 48 kHz to a maximum of 96 kHz for compatibility with existing recording studio systems, PA systems and other recording situations where high sampling rates are utilised.
At 96-kHz/24-bit resolution, 32 tracks are available.
Fast and Reliable Recording Using SSDs
The DA-6400dp uses solid-state drives (SSD), which offer excellent resistance to vibrations and environmental influences and enable simple, maintenance-free operation.
Installing SSDs into removable AK-CC25 storage cases makes it easy to switch between multiple drives. Since the DA-6400dp is hot-swappable, the SSDs can be removed and loaded even when the power is on. SSDs stored in AK-CC25 cases can be connected to computers via USB and used as external drives.
Stable Digital Signal Control With 1 ppm Accuracy
As the quality of digital signals relies on the performance of the clock generator, the DA-6400dp uses a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) with a precision of ±1 ppm (0.048 Hz at 48 kHz).
Redundant Power Supply for Even More Reliability
The DA-6400dp has two built-in power supply circuits to allow for redundant power from another AC circuit. This ensures that the device continues to operate safely in the event of an interruption to the supply on one of the circuits.
Up to 128 Audio Tracks by Cascading Two Units
The Cascade function, introduced in firmware version 2.10, enables sample-accurate synchronisation of two devices, allowing for the recording and playback of up to 128 tracks at a sampling rate of 48 kHz, or up to 64 tracks at 96 kHz.
A Reliable Leader for Timecode Synchronisation
Thanks to its precise clock generator and the use of LTC (SMPTE timecode), the DA-6400dp can be used as an extremely reliable leader for timecode synchronisation.
Supported timecode frame rates are 24, 25, 29.97DF, 29.97NDF, 30DF and 30NDF.
Gigabit Ethernet for Control and File Transfer Over FTP
A 1000BASE-T gigabit LAN port is included for remote control and file transfer. The standard File Transfer Protocol (FTP) can be used to push files to the unit or to access recordings remotely from Windows, macOS or Unix-based systems.
There is also a built-in FTP server for transferring files between SSDs and clients.
Two Expansion Slots for Flexible Use of Inputs and Outputs
The DA-6400dp has two rear slots for audio interface cards, allowing you to flexibly adapt inputs and outputs to your requirements. With two AES/EBU interface cards, for example, 32 inputs and outputs with 96 kHz sampling rate in AES format are available.
Expansion cards for MADI, Dante/AES67 and ST 2110 formats as well as for 16 analogue outputs are also available.
Compliant With SMPTE ST2110 (From Firmware v3.20)
By installing the optional IF-ST2110 card, the DA-6400 is compliant with the SMPTE ST 2110 standard for IP connections, making it a recorder/player that is compatible with an ST 2110 system.
When used with an optional Dante or MADI card, this expansion card transforms the DA-6400dp into a hybrid recorder. It bridges ST 2110 and Dante/MADI systems and functions as a flexible audio format converter between them.
